This cheeky snake seemingly disguised as a fashion accessory after it coiled itself around some clothes hangers shut down an entire clothes shop in Austria before cops arrived to remove it.
The reptile, which could have passed either as a snakeskin belt or leather necklace, took place in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg in an unnamed shop where it was spotted by a store assistant.
The scared woman called the cops who showed up to find the reptile coiled around some clothes hangers behind the checkout.
As the cops could not identify the snake, they contacted the “Inatura” natural history museum in Dornbirn and a local animal rescue team to make sure that it was not a deadly species.
They confirmed that the snake was only a harmless, non-toxic grass snake, albeit a visibly large one, and the police removed the snake from the shop.
Reports say this was no small feat as the female snake did not take kindly to the police officers’ attempts to remove her from her perch, and reacted aggressively.
Eventually, the brave police officers were able to calm her down enough to capture her.
They eventually managed to make her slither into a cardboard box they held out for her.
They then released the snake into the wild, as can be seen in these images.
