Moroccan Starlet Shaves Head In Feminist Protest

This Moroccan singer has shaved her head in order to challenge society’s perception of women.

Abir El Abed shared a smiling snap of her new look on social media in which she sports a shaven head to share her feminist message.

Along with an image of her new look she wrote: “This is a message from me to every woman and every girl who suffers from a society that imposes fake ideas, that are the products of humans. Today I’m here to show solidarity with every girl who has been lied to . . . and told that you are not a woman if you don’t have hair.”

The starlet, who hails from the city of Tangier in the north of Morocco, went on to dedicate her new look to all women who “had to cover their heads with a veil or a wig” fearing that they would be mocked for their hair or lack of it.

She went on to tell her female followers that beauty lies in their being, intelligence, manners, intentions and self-confidence.

The 28-year-old Moroccan singer shot to stardom in 2017 after she wowed the judges on Arabs Got Talent.

According to local media, her musical style is inspired by Judeo-Moroccan and Andalusian music.
