Mexico’s President has been widely criticised after sharing a clip on social media of him kissing a young girl in public during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The clip was shared on social media by the Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador after a visit in the city of Ometepec in the state of Guerrero in southern Mexico.
Obrador shared the clip on Twitter alongside the message: “At the exit of the hotel in Ometepe, I greeted and listened to people’s requests. Let’s go to Xochistlahuaca.”

In the video he can be seen hugging and kissing people while he tries to reach his vehicle.
At one point he is seen taking a little girl in his arms, kissing and playfully biting her even though the girl appears uncomfortable.
Twitter user ‘kalinking’ wrote: “Kids are not to be eaten.”
Netizen ‘tumbaburross’ said: “President, stop greeting people with kisses and hugs. The most vulnerable age to coronavirus is your own.”
Reports said the number of people infected by COVID-19 in Mexico has increased to 53 with seven of them hospitalised.
The Mexican Sub-Secretary of Health, Hugo Lopez-Gatel, has said that there have not been any deaths from COVID-19 in the country while the national government has urged the people to maintain a healthy distance in their social interactions.
