The daughter of legendary Italian football boss Giorgio Perinetti has died aged 34 from medical complications caused by anorexia.
The heartbroken veteran manager announced the death of Emanuela Perinetti and told Italian media: “We don’t understand why she let herself shut down like this.”
He added: “She had been fighting anorexia for some time.”
Emanuala, ‘Manu’ to her friends, had graduated in sports marketing and worked in football.
She had nearly 17,000 followers on Instagram and captioned her profile with ‘Life is my favourite sport’.
But photos of Emanuala, who died in hospital in Milan on 29th November, showed her looking painfully drawn and thin.
Her funeral was held at the Basilica of Sant’Eustorgio in Milan on 1st December.
Dad Giorgio, 72, has worked as a Technical Director and Sporting Director, as well as a CEO at a host of top Italian clubs.
He started his career working at AS Roma in the 1970s and left for Napoli in the 1980s before working at Palermo in the 1990s.
He returned to AS Roma from 1995 to 1998 before working at Juventus, Palermo, Napoli, Bari, AC Siena, US Palermo, Venezia, Genoa, Brescia, Robur Siena, and Avellino.
