Footage Shows Record-Breaking May Snow In New York

This is the moment flurries of snow can be seen falling from the sky in New York State over the weekend.

The footage was filmed in Amherst, a town in New York State’s Erie County.

In the clip we see heavy snow falling from the sky as a carpet of white can be seen on the ground.

Weather records were smashed in the US over the weekend – which played host to Mother’s Day on Sunday – when the temperatures fell to 36f (2.22c) breaking a 1947 record when they dropped to 37f (2.77c) on the same day.

The unseasonable weather comes after a winter which saw milder than usual weather take place.

Oan Saturday morning a record was tied when traces of snow fell in Central Park for the latest time since 1977.

Another milestone in the city was the low for Saturday of 34f, (1.11c) breaking a record that had also stood since 1947.

Snow flurries and squalls were reported across the tri-state area, with the National Weather Service saying that all six of its climate sites (Newark Airport, Central Park, Bridgeport, LaGuardia, Kennedy, and Islip) reported a trace of snow on Sunday morning just in time for Mother’s Day.

Temperatures have risen today (Monday) with highs of 61f (16c) expected.
