This is the moment a heroic woman ignores her injuries and uses the last of her strength before collapsing to stop her baby from rolling onto the road after she is hit from behind by a pedicab.
The child might have also rolled off the car onto the street had it not been for the brave guardian, who despite her pain and injury manages to catch the baby.
Traffic camera footage from the city of Guigang in China’s southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region shows the woman holding the baby while standing behind the parked silver car.
The pedicab driver speed into view and appears to notice the woman too late, braking at the last second and overturning.
The sliding pedicab hits the woman in the back, causing her to drop the infant onto the car boot in front of her.
As she struggles to pick herself up from the accident, she is incredibly still able to catch the child, who threatens to roll off the boot lid.
The baby is then taken to safety by a man standing nearby.
Authorities say the pedicab driver had not been concentrating on the road and only saw the woman and child at the last second.
The victim’s relation to the child has not been reported, with police saying she suffered no serious injuries.
Further investigation is under way.
