Rescuers Save Dog Traped In Muddy Bog After Chasing Seagulls

Rescuers save a dog called Bruno after he got stuck neck-deep in mud chasing seagulls across a bog.

His horrified owner called the police in Guatape, a resort town in north-western Colombia, on the afternoon of Monday, 25th March, as he saw his pet pooch sinking deep into the quicksand-like flats.

Bruno is seen in rescue footage up to his neck in thick, clinging mud that threatened to pull him all the way under.

But despite the desperate circumstances Bruno is wagging his tail as one rescuer fixes a harness to him.

Then in a second clip, the dog is slowly pulled back to firm earth as his owner and other rescuers cheer him on until he reaches safety covered in black mud.

A third and final clip shows the firefighter rescuer being pulled back to dry land as a grateful Bruno waits to greet him.

Local media reported that Bruno had been chasing seagulls near a reservoir when he became trapped.

One firefighter told local media: “It lasted approximately an hour and a half while we got to where the canine was by using ropes. Harness and personnel certified for this type of rescue.”

They added: “Thank God we freed the little animal. Its health was in perfect condition and it was delivered to its owner.”

They said dog owners should be careful walking their pets near the reservoir.
