Thieves Steal Confiscated Plane From Police Hangar

This is the moment two brazen thieves steal an aeroplane from a hangar after it had been seized by police.

CCTV footage of the bizarre heist shows two men inside what was supposed to be a secure storage area in Redencao City, Para State, Brazil.

The crooks – apparently with all the time in the world – carefully manoeuvre other planes and microlites out of the way to get to the light aircraft they want.

They then can be seen carefully pushing it through the hangar doors as the footage ends.

Although the break-in took place six months ago, in September, Brazilian police have now announced two arrests, on Thursday, 2nd March.

Newsflash obtained a statement from the Ministry of Justice and Public Security of Brazil on Thursday saying five crooks had taken part in the robbery.

But they have still not found the stolen aircraft.

The ministry said: “The Federal Police arrested two people accused of stealing a seized aircraft.

“Two arrest warrants and four search and seizure warrants were served in the municipalities of Redencao (Para) and Sorocaba (Sao Paulo).”

They added: “The Federal Police launched, this Thursday, Operation Air Order, to dismantle a criminal association that stole a plane in September last year.

“In the house of one of the arrest targets, a pistol with scratched numbers was found. For this reason, he was also arrested for the act of illegally possessing a firearm.”

The statement went on: “The operation aims to dismantle the criminal association that stole an aircraft in September 2022. Seized by the Federal Police in the Terra Desolata operation, at the end of 2021, the plane was stored in a privately owned secure hangar and under the responsibility of the Municipality of Redencao, as a trustee.”

They added: “According to the investigation by the Federal Police in that municipality, at least five people were directly involved in the crime.

“Three of them, armed, invaded the property, took the residents hostage, entered the hangar and removed the aircraft.

“While fleeing, they set fire to the car used in the crime. The other two involved provided cover and support in the escape.

“Those investigated will respond for major theft and criminal association, whose combined penalties can reach 20 years of imprisonment.

“In addition, the prisoner for illegal possession of a firearm can have three to eight years of imprisonment added. Investigations continue for the recovery of the stolen aircraft.”
