Taxi Swept Along Streets In Peru Flash Floods

This is the moment an overturned motorcycle taxi is swept along a flooded street caused by a devastating period of heavy rainfall and flash floods in Peru.

The incident took place on 29th December following a two-hour downpour that flooded the town of Cajabamba in the north-western Peruvian province of the same name.

In the video footage, an overturned motorcycle taxi is seen being swept along the flooded street as heavy rain continues to fall from the heavens.

Meanwhile, several stunned residents witness the scene from doorways and balconies.

According to local media, the motorcycle taxi was swept along the street for over 10 blocks and was badly damaged as a result.

Reports said the heavy rain also affected street sellers who saw their stalls dragged along by the flash floods while they tried to save as much of their wares as possible.

The local emergency services said that three homes and several vehicles were damaged by the floods while a police motorbike was also swept along by the fast-moving water.

Luckily, there were no fatalities and no one has been reported as injured, according to reports.

The clean-up operation continues.
