Seafood Shopper’s Revenge On Supermarket

A furious shopper has shamed a supermarket after it sold her a frozen squid with a vicious hook still stuck in it.

The horrified punter, who has not been named, only discovered the hook with 12 razor-sharp prongs as she was unpacking the seafood at home.

So she took to social media on 14th December to expose the Sheng Siong supermarket in Bukit Batok, Singapore.

The shopper posted a photograph showing the squid with its hook still attached.

Her pithy caption said: “The hook is extremely sharp so please be careful when cleaning your seafood!”

She also posted a photo of the receipt which shows she’d paid SGD 6.99 (GBP 4.13) for the frozen squid.

Sheng Siong supermarket later apologised and refunded the cash to the customer, reports local media.

They added: “An investigation has been launched internally to look into the incident”.

Local media said that the hook could be part of a squid jig, which is a lure consisting of a circle of thin, sharp wire hooks used to snag a squid’s tentacles.

Some social media users said the hook was forgotten by a fisherman, while others even wondered if the hook was left in to increase the weight of the seafood.
