Rescued Cat Refuses To Leave Grave Of Former Loving Owners

This cat spends all day sitting on the graves of its former owners who rescued it last year and churchgoers even built it a little kennel in the cemetery for shelter.

The grieving cat visits its deceased owners every day at a cemetery in the town of Astros in the southern Greek region of Peloponnese.

The feline’s former owners Antonio Douros and wife Giota, who rescued the animal when it was a kitten, sadly passed away earlier this year just a few weeks apart.

They found the kitten, named Chatziko, last year and gave it a loving home for several months before their deaths in spring.

Following the owners’ deaths, the cat suddenly disappeared and local residents actively searched for it for a while.

Local priest Stavros Delimanolis told local media that the cat suddenly showed up out of the blue at the cemetery.

The feline has reportedly made the couple’s grave its new home and the cemetery caretakers have agreed it can live there permanently as it apparently desires.

According to local media, churchgoers feed the cat every day and even installed a small kennel near the grave where it can shelter from the elements.
