Man finds a rat trapped in a hole meant for a handle staring out at him from his desk.
The horrified homeowner – from Jingmen, Hubei Province, central China – had absent-mindedly reached out for the handle only to grab the rodent’s fury face.
The baffled man – not named in local media – then took out his phone and filmed the bizarre sight.
His film – later shared on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok – shows the rat with its head stuck fast in the hole with its body trapped in the drawer behind it.
The rat -who was dead by the time it was discovered – had apparently poked its head through the hole but could not pull it back.
Netizens felt bad for the rat’s bad luck but could only poke fun at its predicament.
Douyin user ‘Sonne’ said in a comment: “Oh no, the rat became a part of the drawer.”
Another user – ‘Zhao Chou Nizi’ – said: “It’s strange that it matches the lock so well. I thought it was a set of antique locks until I got a closer look.”
And user ‘Rainbow Candy’ wrote: “I wouldn’t what to do in this situation, I’d probably just lift the table and throw it out.”
