Infant Given Nickname After Weighing 11lb At Birth

An infant has been dubbed “Super Baby” after she was born weighing a whopping 11 lb in Brazil.

Not-so-little Manuela Santos de Moura came into the world at the Municipal Maternity Hospital in Peruibe, Sao Paulo State, weighing 4.935 kilogrammes (10 lb 14 oz), measuring 53 centimetres (21 inches), and with an impressive head of hair.

Her mum, Adriana da Silva Santos, told local media: “Manuela is wearing clothes that would be for three-month-old babies. She was born already grown, and I’ll need to buy everything new.”

Manuela was born healthy via C-section on 23rd April after 41 weeks of pregnancy.

Despite constant monitoring throughout the pregnancy, the infant’s sheer size caught everyone off-guard.

Adriana said: “The delivery was scheduled, but I didn’t expect her to be born so huge. It’s a great feeling. She’s smart and has lots of hair.”

Big babies are often related to gestational diabetes, but that was not the case for Adriana.

She told local media: “I had no illness or health changes. My diet was normal, and I ate everything. I don’t know what the secret was.”

Mother and daughter were discharged from hospital on 26th April.

Adriana said: “We are great. Manu is healthy and beautiful. Now, it’s time to enjoy her and live every moment.”

She added: “I’m going to donate everything I have here, because nothing fit her.

“We’re going to make a new layette. We received four onesies and that’s what she’s wearing.”
