Customs cops make the pram-tastic find of the year when they unearth 73 gold bars worth more than GBP 4 million stashed in a pushchair.
The ingots, each weighing a kilogramme, were seized at Turkey’s Istanbul airport hidden in nappy changing bags underneath a baby thought to be around 10 months old.
Video footage of the discovery shows a couple being stopped after they push the pushchair through a metal detector arc.
As customs officers search the pushchair they pull out bag after bag from a sling beneath the baby’s seat.
Then as they open them each can be seen stuffed with gold bars as the clip ends.
Earlier they had been tracked and stopped by police after arriving on a flight from Dubai on 21st April.
Local media reports that they were sent through scanners and metal detectors before they were searched.
Police would only name the two suspects as MQ, who is being held in custody, and AK who was released on bail.
Gold is currently worth around GBP 60,000 per kilogramme, putting the value of the ingots at around GBP 4.38 million.
