Adorable Panda Entertains Itself By Trying To Fit In Hole Wall

Giant panda finds a rather unusual way of entertaining itself by trying to fit in a hole in a wall inside its enclosure.

The footage shared by Beijing Zoo, in China’s capital, shows the animal heading towards the entrance of the inner part of its enclosure in a video shared on Douyin, TikTok’s Chinese version.

But when it reached a small square-shaped hole in the rocky walls, the panda, named Meng Er, suddenly stopped and sat up straight, perfectly fitting into it.

Thrilled social media users left an avalanche of comments under the video, saying that “the giant panda is just made up for this door.”

User ‘Ou Shi Ni fishing for money’ said: “How did Meng Er find such a good place to fit in?”

User ‘Wish come true, wish come true’ commented: “Playing hide and seek.”

And ‘Sanxinguoguo’ added: “It just wants some peace and quiet.”

The giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca), characterised by its bold black-and-white coat and rotund body, is endemic to China.

It was reclassified as ‘vulnerable” on IUCN’s Red List of Threatened Species after decade-long efforts to save it from being endangered.

In July 2021, Chinese authorities also reclassified the giant panda as vulnerable.
