Online shopper shows off her very special delivery when she opens a package and finds a nest of newborn rat babies inside.
Astonished Mila Sukhushina, from Tomsk, southern Russia, had just opened a package with her new toothbrush holder in it when she spotted something at the bottom of it.
She explained: “I saw something dark at the bottom and thought it was mould. But then this ‘mould’ started moving.
“My package of bathroom supplies turned into a rat maternity ward!”
Mila squeaked in surprise but took pity on the four rat pups which were so young they were still blind when she found them on 21st July.
Touching video footage of her adopted babies showed Mila feeding them milk with a syringe one drop at a time because they were so tiny.
And when she stretched out her hand beside them even the largest in the litter was barely half the size of her thumb, as seen in an earlier clip.
Mila believed the rats’ mum crawled into the package in a warehouse to give birth and left them there while she went to find food.
And although she knows she cannot keep the babies as pets forever she has managed to find them a good home.
She explained: “Two of them are quite weak and might not survive.
“But I’ve found good homes for the other two with experienced people who keep rats as pets.”
