Wrecked Pirates Of The Caribbean-Style Ghost Ship Sent To Toy Museum

A ghoulishly designed DIY pirate ship washed ashore on a German island is to be given away to a toy museum.

The ship, which appears to have been designed with a wicked-looking ram in its prow. Mysteriously appeared beached on the coast of Norderney island last month.

The stricken boat, named The Wibo, had been drifting at sea after its engine blew up.

Its 75-year-old skipper, named only as Guenter, could not even wait for rescue because he’d forgotten to bring an anchor along for his planned cruise to the Netherlands.

Baffled islanders on Germany’s North Sea coast found the battered, stricken boat covered in slime and filth and with a broken rudder.

Now, say police in Aurich, the eight-metre-long salvaged Wibo is to be sent to the local Automotive And North Sea Toy Museum.

The crocked boat, which took its owner 30 years to build, saved by islanders who took pity on its owner and patched it up.

DIY Ship With No Anchor Becomes Tourist Attraction After It Washes Ashore On German Island

It became a bizarre tourist attraction with visitors turning up in their hundreds to see the DIY pirate ship and hear about the maritime mystery from Guenter.

Islanders even had a whip round to cover the cost of transporting it from the beach to the museum to add to its collection of vintage cars, motorcycles and toys.

One maritime lawyer from Hamburg, explained: “In the end, it is no different than with a car.

“If law enforcement decides that the ship has to go, then they’ll get it out of there. The skipper’s consent is not required for this.”
