Shopper Finds Dead Rat Inside Zara Trainer

A female shopper says she had a nasty surprise when putting her hand inside a Zara trainer to remove something inside only to pull out a dead rat.

The shopper, surnamed Chen, says the startling incident occurred at a Zara shop in the city of Chengdu in the Sichuan province of China.

The woman says she had wanted to try on the trainers but had found something inside one of the shoes which was blocking her toes from slipping inside.

She says she thought it was a ball of paper and went to pull it out but then realised the object was furry.

After seeing she had pulled a dead rat out of the trainer she says she dropped it on the ground and screamed.

A photo appears to show the dead rat next to the pair of trainers.

Chen says a Zara employee told her to go to a nearby shop to wash her hands but adds that none of the workers offered an apology for the incident.

Zara have not issued a statement on the incident.

In 2016, New York resident Cailey Fiesel filed a lawsuit against Zara after she says she had found a dead rat sewn into a dress she had bought from the shop.
