Political Party Promises To Bus Women In To Marry Men

A political party has promised to bus in 30 women to a community with a low birth rate and a high number of unmarried men if they are elected to power.

‘United Serbia’ (‘Jedinstvena Srbija’) is a political party whose founder and leader is Dragan Markovic, a current member of the National Assembly of Serbia.

Milenko Milekic is representing the town and municipality of Lucani in the western Serbian district of Moravica and he promised residents of communities in the region, which are reportedly full of unmarried men, that they will bus in 30 single women if elected.

The United Serbia poster reads: “Employment of 30 women in Kaona so they can get married there or in nearby villages.”

Milenko told local media that they will employ women in a factory that will open soon in Kaona.

The political party hopes that this will attract the votes of the unmarried men in the area.

However, there was a social media backlash that said that women are being disrespected with the promise of work while the real intention is to marry them off.

Milekic responded by saying that the party only wants to resolve the low birth rate issue.

He added that there are “many women” interested in going there.

Netizen ‘Mara95’ commented: “God help us!”

‘Nesa’ said: “So women need to sell themselves and at the same time slave away in a tycoon’s factory?”
