Gill-ty Seal Caught Stealing Fish From Zoo Kitchen

Sneaky seal is caught red-handed stealing fish from a Chinese zoo’s kitchen.

The hungry beast had spotted that the kitchen door had been left open at Rizhao Ocean Park, Shandong Province, and quickly sniffed out its favourite meal.

But as it wolfed down fish piled up by a sink, it was interrupted by its keeper Mr Wang.

But in his video footage of the cheeky raid the seal – named Da Zhuang after one of China’s favourite singers – barely twitches a whisker before trying again.

After playfully tapping the sea mammal on the nose with a rubber glove, Wang gives in and hand-feeds him a fish feast before the clip ends.

Wang – who was been a seal breeder for 19 years – said that there are 20 harbour seals and two grey seals living in the enclosure.

At seven years old and more than 230 lbs, Da Zhuang is the oldest and largest.

Wang told local media: “Seals are fed in the morning and afternoon, and they have to sleep at noon.

“We feed them five per cent of their body weight, although they eat more in winter – usually about 15 fish a day – and they eat 10 in summer.”

Regarding the sneaky behaviour of Da Zhuang, Wang added: “It often eats secretly, but this is also with my approval,

“If you don’t want it to eat, just close the kitchen door. I still don’t want to stifle their creativity. I let them do whatever they want.”
