Panda Gives Keeper Angry Staredown Over Badly Thrown Apple

A lazy panda that lets an apple escape its grip and fall to the ground angrily stares down the keeper for throwing the fruit too low.

Phone footage shows the black-and-white bear sitting on top of a tall wooden platform at its enclosure at Chimelong Safari Park, in, Guangzhou, in southern China’s Guangdong Province.

In the video – shared on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok – a keeper appears to be diverting the panda’s attention from the bamboo it is chewing on to an apple he is holding in his hand.

The panda, named Mei Qing, appears immediately interested in the delicious treat and makes a begging noise while keeping its eye locked on the fruit.

But the moment the keeper throws the apple in its direction, it bounces off by Mei’s hind paws and begins rolling off the platform.

The panda slowly turns towards the falling apple but apparently decides it is too far away to try and catch it.

Mei then turns back towards the keeper, seemingly giving him an angry stare.

Visitors can be heard laughing in the background as Mei apparently struggles to contain her annoyance with the keeper’s bad aim.

After a while, however, Mei is seen getting up from its spot and going to retrieve the apple then happily munching on it.
