This adorable baby elephant called Kibali has just turned one and to celebrate she was given an extra long shower, her favourite activity.
Kibali lives at Schoenbrunn Zoo in the Austrian capital Vienna and this footage shows her playfully running up to a keeper holding a hose and having fun being soaked with the water.
The footage also shows the cute young elephant rolling around on the ground.
In a press statement, the zoo said that the keeper knew exactly how to make Kibali’s day special.
The area’s head keeper, Andreas Buberl, said: “Kibali loves to be showered. As a summer child, she can now enjoy an extra long shower in the outdoor area.”
Although she does not stay clean for long afterwards, the zoo says that is not the point. The point is to wash her and, above all, for her to have fun.
Kibali likes to run through the water jets, trying to catch them with her trunk and letting the water patter on her back.
She also loves to “wallow in the mud”.
The keepers say that Kibali is a particularly bright and curious elephant calf.
Kibali was born on 13th July 2019 and the zoo says shes “has developed magnificently”.
She weighed about 90 kilogrammes (198 lbs) at birth, but now she weighs 312 kilogrammes (688).
She is Numbi’s third baby after Kibo and Tuluba. She was conceived by artificial insemination. Her dad is a wild elephant in South Africa.
Her name, “Kibali”, was chosen as part of an internet vote. ‘Kibali’ means ‘acceptance’ in Swahili.
