Man Enters Frozen Pond To Rescue Dog Trapped In Ice

This is the moment a brave man in Russia plunges into a frozen pond to rescue a dog that had fallen through the thin ice.

The incident took place in the city of Nizhny Novgorod in the western Russian region of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, and the footage was widely shared on social media.

In the footage, a dog is seen struggling after having fallen through thin ice in the middle of the pond as a topless man wades through the water towards it.

The man then appears to use his body weight to tilt a large sheet of ice that eventually frees the trapped pooch.

The dog is seen walking away as the man returns to the opposite bank

The cameraman says: “Hey, get some vodka ready for him!”

Local media said the brave man’s name is Andrey and it is unclear what happened to the dog after being rescued from the ice.

Reports also did not mention whether the animal was a stray.

Netizen’Irina Shinkarenko’ said: “The guy actually rescued the dog. It would have remained trapped in the ice if he didn’t go in.”

‘Vlad Asterlin’ commented: “Respect to this guy. He is a true man.”
