Giant panda giving a zookeeper a guilty look while sitting in a pile of sawdust after tearing apart its pillow.
The clip, captured at the Quanzhou Haisi Wild Animals World, located in China’s south-eastern province of Fujian, depicted the protected animal holding the ripped pillowcase in its paws earlier this week.
It can then be seen twiddling its hind paws giving the zookeeper a puppy-eyes look after seemingly making a mess by scattering the pillow’s stuffing all over its enclosure.
The clip prompted an avalanche of reactions by users on China’s version of TikTok, Douyin, after the video reached the platform on 25th March.
Douyin user ‘Chestnut’ said: “The panda is like ‘I am innocent, it was the pillow that moved first!”
And ‘Yuan Xuanqi’ commented: “With a face full of apology, the big paw sneakily scooped the wood shavings back.”
And ‘Yan’er’ added: “My beloved pillow is scattered all over the floor. It’s gone. It’s gone.”

The giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) is a bear species endemic to China, listed as ‘Vulnerable’ on IUCN’s Red List of Threatened Species.
Estimated giant panda populations include about 1,800 individuals in the wild, and another 600 in zoos and breeding centers around the world.
Their greatest threats include habitat loss due to human activities such as deforestation and fragmentation, as well as poaching and climate change affecting their bamboo food source.
