Elephant In Florida Zoo Creates Painting With Lessons From Local Artist

This is the moment a fully-grown elephant at a Florida zoo teams up with a local artist and creates a stunning painting.

The two met up at the elephant’s enclosure in Zoo Miami, and artist Lynn Garcia brought along some non-toxic paint.

In a video filmed by zoo staff, the African elephant, called Peggy, can be seen making art with beautiful, vibrant colours.

A zookeeper hands Peggy a brush dipped in colour and other staff join in to help as they bring out the canvas, allowing the ‘artist’ to work her magic.

Staff change the brush a few times, swapping the previous colour with a new one to help Peggy achieve her artistic vision.

But the work is still far from complete, so the keeper smears some bright green paint on the end of Peggy’s truck so she can spray the canvas with it.

Finally, Lynn adds her own touch to the creation and draws an elephant’s face with black marker.

Lynn said: “This whole experience got me to feel like a child again.”

Being petite in size, she said she felt even smaller standing next to the big, beautiful elephant.

The painting is going to be put up for a silent auction by Zoo Miami, reportedly to be held on 3rd March, 2023.
