This is the moment a street sweeper empties his dustpan into a river instead of the bin right next to him in a move that has seen him being sacked.
The incident took place in the municipality of Aerodrom in the capital city of Skopje in northern North Macedonia, when the cleaner, whose identity has not been disclosed, was caught on camera throwing rubbish into the Vardar river.
In the video, which was shared on social media, the sweeper can be seen brushing up the rubbish from the pavement into his dustpan.
He then begins walking towards the dustbin behind him but then decides to empty the dustpan over the edge of the bridge he is on.
The camera then pans to show the bridge is actually crossing the Vardar river, and the cleaner had just dumped the rubbish into its waters.
The worker has been fired for committing a severe disciplinary offence, seriously violating the reputation of the public company, according to local media.
The video has been watched nearly 70,000 times and netizens were outraged, such as ‘Elizabeta Babushku’ who wrote: “This is for crying to.”
And ‘Nina Kraguevska’ commented: “The irony is that the bin is placed next to him…”
While ‘Marija Nikolovska’ added: “They haven’t told the man where he should throw the rubbish, a catastrophe.”
And ‘Verica Nikodinovska’ wrote: “He probably thinks he is feeding the fishes.”
