Digger Driver Rescues Couple From Flood In His Bucket

This is the dramatic moment a digger driver saves the lives of a young couple by lifting them to safety in his shovel after seeing their car risked being washed away by the torrential flood at any moment.

The couple had been driving through the Kadirli district of southern Turkey’s Osmaniye Province when the road was flooded by the water and they were washed into the torrent.

Luckily for the couple, whose names have not been released, a digger driver working on a road construction project nearby spotted their predicament.

The man, whose identity is also not reported, managed to pull the pair to safety in his excavator bucket while filming the spectacular rescue on his smartphone.

The footage shows the young couple climb from their car, which is almost completely submerged in fast-flowing water, to climb into the bucket.

The young man seems remarkably calm despite the danger as he leans back into the car to help his partner and then retrieve something they have forgotten.

The couple, who had been driving from the major city of Adana to the small town of Kadirli, escaped without injury although their car is believed to have been a write off.

The digger driver later shared the clip on social media where it has been making a big impression on viewers.

Netizen ‘Trabzonsporlu’ commented: “God has saved them”, while an anonymous commentator added: “Look how calm the guy is! He climbs slowly into the bucket and then helps his wife and gets their bags.”

The flooding which hit the area following two days of heavy rains was so severe that it also demolished a bridge on the same road between Adana and Kadirli.

Kadirli is an area of rich farmland which produces a variety of crops including three-quarters of Turkey’s radishes.
