Devastated Parents Gather Donations To Grant Dying Daughter’s Final Wish For Pizza In Italy

The devastated parents of a seven-year-old girl are gathering donations to grant her final wish to have pizza in Italy.

The parents of Emily, from the town of Dueren, in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, are asking for donations on GoFundMe to grant their daughter her final wish to eat a pizza in Italy.

German media said that Emily had spent most of her life in hospital and had last gone to a swimming pool about three years ago after being diagnosed with cancer.

She is suffering from stage-four neuroblastoma and has weeks to live, according to her family and German media.

The GoFundMe post, titled “Fulfilling Emily’s heart’s desires in her last weeks”, says (in German): “Let’s fulfil Emy’s last wishes together.”

It continues: “I am turning to you with a matter close to my heart: my niece Emy (7 years old) has been fighting cancer for three years.

“Even though she has a huge fighting spirit, it won’t end well.

“In June 2021, she was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma.

“Emy has already undergone intensive treatment, including chemotherapy, stem cell transplantation with her own stem cells, radiation and antibody therapy in combination with chemo. All to no avail.

“She suffered a relapse during the antibody therapy and had to undergo radiotherapy and chemotherapy again. And even then she never lost her smile.

“However, the type of chemotherapy had no effect and it was decided to perform a haploid stem cell transplant using her father’s cells.

“Afterwards she was supposed to receive antibody therapy again. Unfortunately, this led to severe side effects and Emy had to be treated in the intensive care unit. Even then it looked like she would not make it. Her parents were already preparing to say goodbye.

“But our fighting spirit made it! That was at the end of 2023.

“After three years in which Emy was almost exclusively in the hospital, fighting so bravely and strongly and never losing her courage and her zest for life, the diagnosis has now come that the doctors can no longer do anything.

“The tumour has spread again.

“It was a huge shock for all of us that she was sent home for palliative care.

“On 15th May 2024, we received the information that we should prepare ourselves; if Emy wanted to experience something else, we should do it within the next two months.

“How do you tell your child that she only has a few weeks to live?

“Emy only knows the hospital, she spent Christmas there and learned to ride a bike. She never really got to know school, friends, etc.

“She doesn’t know anything about flying away on holiday or going to the swimming pool like other children.

“Since her parents Jessica and Christian have tried everything in the last three years, have been in the hospital every day, have stood by their daughter and the monthly costs still continue to run, things are not looking so good for them financially.

“Let’s work together to make Emy’s last weeks as beautiful as possible. And make each of her last days special.

“Every contribution counts!

“Thank you for your support!”
