The incident took place in Ozd , which is a town in Borsod-Abauj-Zemplen county, in northern Hungary, on 16th January.

They in turn requested help from the Hungarian National Directorate for Disaster Management and eventually, the animal was pulled safely from the manhole.

Newsflash obtained a statement from the Hungarian National Directorate for Disaster Management issued Monday, 16th January, saying: “Firefighters asked for help this morning in Ozd because of a deer bull, because the multi-coloured animal had fallen into a waterhole and only its head could be seen from there.

“After a veterinarian drugged the deer, the units helped to pull it out of the pit with the help of a mechanical ladder.”

The deer is not thought to have been injured and is understood to have been released back into the wild.
