This is the moment a Spanish police officer revives a lifeless cat after it was intoxicated with dangerous gases from the volcano on La Palma.
The cat was found in the area of Puerto Naos, which is the biggest beach on the island, which is located in the Spanish Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean.
The footage shows the police officer tending to the lifeless cat after it was placed on an outside table at a bar.
The kind cop can be seen massaging the feline’s cardiac area while placing its mouth near the mouthpiece of an oxygen tank. He can also be seen giving the poor animal a drink of water as it comes to its senses.
The cop, who is wearing a gas mask and carrying an oxygen tank on his back, is assisted by his colleague as the cat meows as if to say thank you.
A second piece of footage shows the cat alive and well and ready for a checkup at the vet’s.
And a third piece of footage shows the cat being transported in a vehicle in a basket, possibly to be reunited with its owner.
Cleanup is underway on La Palma after the 2021 Cumbre Vieja eruption, the strongest and most violent eruption on the island since the 1970s, caused widespread evacuations and destruction over the last few months before the Spanish government declared the eruption over a few weeks ago.
