This is the viral moment a US university mascot – a stocky bulldog named Tarzan – bites a graduate’s diploma folder and refuses to let go despite efforts to distract the pooch with a ball.
Tarzan the bulldog chomped the graduate’s folder at the University of Puerto Rico – Mayaguez Campus in the municipality of Mayaguez in the US territory of Puerto Rico.
According to local media, it is common for student’s to pose with the university mascot during their graduation ceremony.
In the viral footage shared on Facebook by netizen ‘Enrique Ruiz Almodovar’ and viewed over 1.2 million times, a female student in green graduation garb is seen posing with the bulldog.
However, as she holds out her graduation folder for the snap, Tarzan suddenly bites into it.
A woman intervenes and tries to prise the student’s folder free while a man approaches and distracts Tarzan with a well-chomped ball.
At the end of the clip, also shared by over 19,000 Facebook users, the damaged folder is handed back to the grimacing graduate.
Netizen ‘Betzabe Gutierrez’ said: “I do not know why the girl is crying, I think it is super funny!”
‘Laaw D Omar’ commented: “Tarzan is one crazy mutt!”
‘Gerardo Ponce De Leon Real’ commented: “Poxy dog, I would have booted it in the mouth.”
