Open Mic Star Alfie Arger Serenades Neighbours For NHS

This is the moment teenage Open Mic UK finalist Alfie Arger performs a mini concert on his driveway in Romford to entertain his neighbours and raise money for the NHS.

The concert took place at Alfie’s home in Romford in east London and the footage was posted on Facebook by his sister Rhiannah Louise Mortimore where it has been viewed 220,000 times.

Rhiannah told Newsflash that the family set up a crowdfunding page to raise money for the NHS amid the COVID-19 pandemic and that Alfie, 17, has been performing a number of charity shows.

She said: “Alfie said he wanted to make a video for a good cause while having fun at the same time.”

The teen singer, who was a finalist at Open Mic UK at the NEC in Birmingham two years ago, also wanted to lift his neighbours’ spirits following a tough lockdown period and he held two shows on his driveway.

Rhiannah told Newsflash: “I filmed the first show from our drive for memories sake and to pass around the family, but we did not expect it to go viral! It’s crazy, my phone has been nonstop.

“The neighbours absolutely loved it. He was only meant to sing one song during the applause for the nurses, but then neighbours from other streets came along wanting to hear him.

“When he finished his first song, ‘Bruises’ by Lewis Capaldi, more people started coming. They kept screaming “one more”. Alfie ended up doing five and they loved it so much they did not want him to stop!

Alfie told Newsflash: “Since Open Mic UK, I have become much more confident performing to large crowds and I’ve started to grow a following on social media in the last year.

“I have started writing my own songs and I hope to bring out an EP or album in July 2020.”

Rhiannah told Newsflash that Alfie will also perform at a local charity event for the NHS on Faringdon Avenue in Romford soon.

She added that the budding music star is in his first year at the Access Creative College in London and is “loving it”.
