Newborn Still Asleep As He Emerges In Amniotic Sack

Tiny baby is born apparently still sleeping inside his amniotic sac to the delight of medical staff.

The remarkable birth captured on video was filmed in the maternity ward of the Maternidade Dr Adalberto Pereira da Silva, located in the Brazilian municipality of Annapolis in March.

The delivery was carried out by a team led by obstetrician Rafael Leite Ferreira, and the footage shows the sleeping baby, later named Guilherme Auak, emerging and being

slowly and gently poked by the team before being “unwrapped” and cleaned.

Throughout the birthing process, the team are continually moving the baby and stimulating him to start breathing once he emerges from his protective cover.

The obstetrician added: “Once the bag is broken it stimulates the baby as he comes into contact with the real world for the first time, and air goes into his lungs. It is also his first breath and after that he has to do the breathing movements on his own.”

Dr Ferreira added that such births where the baby comes out still attached to the

amniotic sac are very rare, and happen only in one out of every 80,000 cases.

He pointed out, however, that it is something that is remarkable and is at no risk either to the mother or the baby.

The video went viral after it was shared by the hospital with the message: “Thanks@katia_silva28 for allowing us to share this unique moment in your life.”

The little one’s mother, Katia Souza, who already has two children, later added a comment on Instagram saying: “We love you so much. Thanks for coming.”
