Driver Kills Mum-Of-Two Rider And Horse In Smash

A mother of two was killed when a 76-year-old SUV driver ploughed into her and her horse as she rode beside a country lane in Germany.

Victim Martina K.’s white horse died instantly in the high-speed crash, which sent both the rider and her mount flying through the air.

Image shows a dead horse, undated photo. It died along with its rider Martina K., 61, as a 76-year-old driver crashed into them in the district of Harburg, in Hamburg, Germany on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022. (Newsflash)

Paramedics tried to revive the 61-year-old rider, but she died at the roadside in Eyendorf, Harburg district, Lower Saxony on 25th October.

Gruesome police photos show the Volkswagen Tiguan’s windscreen smashed with what appears to be flesh around the jagged edge.

Other heartbreaking images show the fallen mount lying on the grassy verge, while a crime scene officer can be seen picking up Martina’s helmet.

Local media reported that Martina was close to a pasture at the time and that she would have intended to leave the road just 20 metres (22 yards) further along.

It is not clear what caused the driver, who was reported to be in a state of shock after the collision, to career into the woman and her horse.

Police are investigating the case.
