Dog Reunites With Owner After A Decade And Then Dies

This greying pooch called Rocky has died just weeks after reuniting with its owner following a 10-year separation.

Nara Alieva, 25, from the city of Leipzig in the German state of Saxony, lost her beloved dog Rocky a decade ago when she was on holiday with her family as a teen.

The dog ran away from a friend while being walked, and disappeared without trace.

However, Alieva could not believe her eyes when she was browsing the website of the Erfurt animal shelter and found a photo of her lost pooch.

She said: “I couldn’t believe it, but on the Erfurt animal shelter’s website was my Rocky!”

Fate brought Alieva and Rocky together again after a decade-long separation and they enjoyed each other’s company at their home in Leipzig.

Alieva said: “We were both over the moon!”

However, Rocky had developed cancer and “his condition deteriorated rapidly”, according to the dog’s owner.

She added: “He vomited a lot, hardly ate.”

Alieva said that she thought about seeing a vet specialising in cancer in Munich, but she doubted whether Rocky “would survive the trip or even make it to next week”.

Sadly, Rocky passed away and Alieva admits that she is “struggling with grief”.

She added: “He did not make it. He suffered and then, in his own little way, made me understand that I have to let him go.”
