The dangerous encounter with the five bears took place in the village of Xianggu in Southern Qinghai Province in China.
The video shared on Douyin – the Chinese version of TikTok, shows an unnamed woman throwing what appears to be food towards the three bear cubs and their mother, with a fifth seemingly adult bear in the background.
Once the little ones start approaching, the woman waves at them, and the brown bears’ mother stands up and waves back at her.
The tourist reportedly said that there are many wild brown bears in the local mountains that come down in search for food, and the locals never harm or chase them away.
The brown bear species (Ursus arctos) are found across Eurasia and North America.
Netizen ‘Eighteen’ commented: “You’ll know you’re wrong once you’re eaten.”
Another ‘Yu Tu’ wrote: “If you provoke a bear like this, something will happen sooner or later.”
And user ‘Comma’ added: “A whole family of bears came to beg for food.”
