This is the moment staff at an American animal shelter celebrate after managing to find a new home for every single one of their animals in their kennel for the first time in history.
The spectacular result at the shelter in Florida in the southeast of the United States comes as animal refuges across the country were forced to close their doors in order to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
Worried as nobody was turning up to adopt but new animals were still arriving, the shelter run by the Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control went online like many other shelters to let people know which pets were available.
The organisation found around mid-March that they started becoming flooded with enquiries and were able to completely clean out all of their animals in one of their kennels as of this week.
Critics are worried however that the new homes will be short-lived for the duration of the coronavirus lockdown, since the people want pets now for the company while they are trapped at home and also as an excuse to go out in the fresh air when the taken for a walk.
But the shelter approves all applicants to make sure they find those who they are convinced our serious about providing a home for an unwanted pet.
Posting a story online together with a video of the cheering and clapping staff in the empty cages the shelter wrote: “An incredible and joyful thing happened today….For the first time in the history of Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control, we have completely emptied one of our three kennels!”
They added: “This amazing milestone was made possible by the help and support of our entire community! Thank you to the shelter staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to care for, find homes for, and advocate for the pets who come through these doors; thank you to our incredible foster parents who open their heart and homes to thousands of pets each year; thank you to everyone who has opted to adopt a shelter pet – whether it be here or from any of the other amazing organizations out there; thank you to our placement partner organizations far and wide – without them, this would not be possible.”

We still have dogs available for adoption or foster in our main kennel, along with a few adoptable cats, two adoptable horses, and Charlotte the adoptable pig. Although the shelter mainly caters for dogs they also have other animals like cats, and the last pets to be fostered out were two dogs and two cats.
They told Newsflash: “We had a pair of dogs that were friends and we did not want to separate them, and managed to find a wonderful family to take both together, and then last night we had two of our cats leave with foster parents.
They also shared a picture of the Moffett Family with their newly adopted dogs, Basil and Sky, and the second picture of Marcy Ebenstein, a new foster mum with her foster cat Boss provided by the home.
They added however that their work will remain because animals are shorter still continue coming in, and the organisation also runs two other kennels were still has animals available.
They said: “That shelter is our Kennel Two, the shelter’s stray housing kennel and adoption overflow kennel.”
They said anybody interested should contact their website to view the list of available pets. The organisation said it was possible then to either adopt or foster and once approved, they would be contacted to arrange a schedule for the pet to be collected, following strict lockdown rules at the same time which involved meeting the new owners outside the building to protect both parties.
