Pro-Palestinian Mob Turns On Media After Thunberg Speech

A TV reporter covering Greta Thunberg’s anti-Israel protest in Germany has been brutally beaten by part of the pro-Palestinian mob.

The environmental campaigner had given a speech at the rally staged by the Handala Alliance on 24th January to protest about the war in Gaza.

But, reports local media, after she had addressed the 200-strong crowd in Leipzig, a mob surrounded a reporter from local TV news programme Sachsen Fernsehen.

The 22-year-old reporter and a 20-year-old friend, both unnamed, were beaten by thugs wearing Palestinian scarves and flags.

Benedict Bartsch, head of content at Sachsen Fernsehen, confirmed: “Even when the journalist was already on the ground, he continued to be kicked.

“The thugs are said to have worn a Palestine scarf around their necks, and a black/white/green flag is said to have been visible.”

He added: “We condemn the attack in the strongest possible terms.

“Violence against journalists is absolutely unacceptable and threatens the fundamental values ​​of press freedom.

“We wish our reporter and his companion a speedy recovery from the injuries they sustained.”

Police told local media that the two victims had been taken to hospital with bruises and other injuries.

The suspects have not been identified so far, according to local media.

Earlier Swedish-born Thunberg had urged her supporters to stand up against what she called “ongoing genocide.

She said: “Do everything that you can to raise your voice for Palestine.”
