Horrified sewer workers called in to fix a blockage found a newborn baby‘s corpse had become stuck in a pipe.
Water company engineers had been called to repair a blocked cess pit which collected human waste in the town of Radzymin, Poland, on Tuesday, 2nd May.
But the shocked sewer workers discovered an infant’s body trapped in the system.
Police have not released details of how the body got there.
But it is understood it was either dumped in the tank or had been flushed away down a loo by the mother.
The child’s body has been sent for an autopsy, which police hope will reveal how the baby died.
Local mayor Krzysztof Chacinski confirmed the grim find on Facebook saying: “Unfortunately, these gruesome reports are true.
“The cause of the clogging of the sewage collector turned out to be the corpse of a newborn baby.
“This dramatic situation could have ended differently.”
Horrified by the case, social media users did not restrain from commenting on the mayor’s post, and criticising the mother.
One Facebook user ‘Janek Jankowski’ said: “She could have given her baby away, she didn’t have to do such a disgusting thing.”
Then user ‘Mag Ko’ commented: “The effects of an abortion ban.”
And ‘Chacinscy Stanislaw Elzbieta’ added: “Lord god will judge her.”
The investigation continues.
