Mutant Lamb Born With No Nostrils And Human-Like Face

A mutant lamb with no nostrils and a human-like face has been born in Turkey much to the farmer’s surprise.

The lamb was born with no upper lip or nostrils on a farm in the Killik neighbourhood of Alasehir District of the western Turkish city of Manisa on the 19th November.

According to national newspaper Haberler, farmer Mustafa Tuzlak expressed his surprise about the deformed animal, saying: “This is the first time I have seen anything like it. I did not know what to do.”

The deformed little lamb was reportedly having difficulty suckling milk from his mother so Tuzlak fed it from a bottle.

The farmer also said the lamb had difficulty breathing due to its missing nostrils.

Tuzlak said: “My curly sheep gave birth to three lambs two days ago. One of the lambs had no upper lip and no nostrils. I didn’t know what to do with it.”

“The animal’s head was like a human head. Since it had no upper lip and nostrils, it was having difficulty feeding milk from its mother. We tried to milk the sheep so we could feed the lamb with its mother’s milk, but it wasn’t enough.

“A veterinarian was going to come to check it but we found it dead in the barn near its mother during the night.”

According to Alasehir Agriculture and Forestry official Umit Sonmez, these situations can occur when the sheep are only bred with a single ram from the same herd.

He said: “In order to prevent such incidents, it is necessary to get rams from other herds every two years.”
