This is the mutant baby chick which has been born with four legs and the helpless creature still cannot walk open its eyes.
The mutant chick was born in the Islahiye district of Gaziantep province in Turkey and is owned by chicken breeder Gani Gunes, 55.
In the photos, the chick can be seen with two legs, complete with claws, on the outside of its body and two at the bottom.
The chick has its eyes shut as it cannot open them.
Gunes said he noticed the bizarre chick had two extra limbs after the incubation period.
He told local media: “After the incubation period, one of the three chicks I realised has four legs. It perplexed me. We are waiting for 24 hours to see if it’s going to survive. I am 55 years old, I have been breeding chickens for a long time and this is the first time I have seen such a chick.”
Local veterinary Mahmut Cevik who treated the four-legged chick said that any anomalies during the development of the egg could have caused it to have been born with four legs and added that a hit during the incubation could also have caused the changed in the embryo.
He added: “The chick’s eyes are not open and it cannot walk. It is very difficult to survive under such conditions.”Â
