This is the cute moment a six-day-old elephant nervously scampers at its mother’s feet after venturing outdoors for the first time ever.
The video was shared on Facebook by Copenhagen Zoo in Frederiksberg in the Danish capital Copenhagen to show the cute calf, named Mun, exploring its surroundings for the first time.
The zoo explained where the adorable baby elephant got its name from: “Mun is Thailand’s third longest river, running through the region of Surin, which also happens to be the name of Mun’s mother.”
In the footage, the little calf is seen walking closely next to its mum, drinking her milk, and enjoying their bonding time together in front of excited onlookers.
Copenhagen Zoo spokesperson Jacob Munkholm Hoeck told Newsflash: “The video features our herd of elephants, three females, two young males (three years old), and the youngest elephant which is only six days old (female).”
Facebook user ‘Marianne’ said: “How beautiful she is, and completely like children, they also walk between your legs or right in front of you so you end up stumbling.”
‘Jannie’ commented: “It’s probably the cutest thing I’ve seen in a long time. Hi Mun! Good to see breastfeeding and bonding going on.”
‘June’ wrote: “A nice name with a really good meaning. The first week with little Mun has passed quickly and it has been so wonderful to see and follow her progress, I am totally in love with her!”
