This is the EUR 250 million luxury mega-yacht that has reportedly been delivered to Hungarian-American IT billionaire Charles Simonyi.
The builder – Luerssen – has delivered the mega-yacht – named Norn – from its Rendsburg shipyard subsidiary in Germany to the billionaire, local media report.
Local media say it is the first yacht without a chimney, which is hidden in the mast.
Simonyi – who started and led Microsoft’s applications group, where he built the first versions of Microsoft Office – has been to space twice.
The 74-year-old’s first mega-yacht – named Skat – was also built by Luerssen and is 71 metres (233 feet) long.
Both the Skat and the Norn have a long glass veranda for “over-the-side” viewing, local media report.
On Instagram, Luerssen Yachts wished the new owner “fair winds and following seas”.
On 3rd May, the Norn was docked at the Norwegenkai in Kiel upon its return from its delivery test drive to Langeland, Denmark.
Luerssen had written in February, before the mega-yacht was given its name: “Luerssen Yachts are pleased to announce the launching of Project 1601, a 90-meter displacement Motor Yacht.
“The exterior design is by Monaco based studio Espen Oeino International, while the Interior design was created by Doelker & Voges Design from Hamburg.
“Owners team project management is by Cornelsen & Partner. 1601 will undergo sea trials in the coming months and is expected to be delivered in the spring.”
