Man Spotted Walking Streets With Giant Tortoise On A Lead

A man has been spotted walking the streets of a Malaysian town with a giant tortoise on a lead.

The bizarre pet ‘walkies’ took place in the city of Johor Bahru located in the Malaysian state of Johor and the images have been widely shared on social media.

The Facebook group Aurizn Malaysia accompanied the snaps with the cheeky message: “House No.1 – 5pm. House No. 8 – 6pm,” suggesting the walk may take the man a long while.

In the images, an elderly man in shorts is seen exercising a giant tortoise on the pavement of a leafy residential area.

One snap appears to show the huge tortoise preparing to pee against the wheel of a parked car.

According to local media, another series of photos were shared online several days later showing a boy with what appeared to be the same giant tortoise.

Reports did not say who the tortoise owner is and whether the old man and the boy are family members.

Facebook user ‘Razib Agil’ commented: “The tortoise has probably been crawling on the street since the 1800s!”

Netizen ‘Kah Weng’ said: “The OAP went out before Covid-19 happened and when he came home, we already found the vaccine!”

‘Marcus Uysoff’ suggested: “That tortoise needs a mate.”
