Group Ties Rare Leopard With Rope And Hangs It From Tree After Allegedly Killing It

The shocking video depicts a rare leopard being tied up and hung from a tree by a group of people who allegedly killed it earlier that day.

Smartphone footage recorded in the Kaniyan village, in the Shamli District, in India’s state of Uttar Pradesh, showed the gang tying the animal with a rope and suspending it from a tree on Tuesday, 13th February.

The video further showed officials from the forest department arriving on the scene and taking the animal’s carcass into their custody.

Indian media revealed that the forest department teams gathered all required evidence from the scene and arranged for the animal to undergo an autopsy.

They also stated that an investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Reports suggested that another leopard had been sighted in the area where the deceased leopard was found, prompting officials to search for it.

The video triggered many reactions after it was shared on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, later that day.

X user ‘@Dushyantsingh92’ said: “This was a baby leopard. There should be a police report in the entire village where it was killed.”

Then user ‘@Kalpvrikcha’ commented: “What the hell?”

And ‘mukta_tomer’ added: “Abusing an animal is equivalent to abusing a human.”

The video has fetched more than 100,000 views as of 14th February.
