Grandpa Left 11-Year-Old Grandson In Motorway Rest Room

A horrified grandpa got home from a day out with his 11-year-old grandson only to find he had left him behind in a motorway service station loo.

The pair had been on their way home from a day trip to a theme park when the 61-year-old grandfather stopped to use the restroom at the truck stop near the municipality of Feucht, in the German state of Bavaria.

But when he got back into the car, he did not notice that his grandson had also slipped out for a loo break and drove straight off, reported local media.

He did not notice that the boy was missing until he got to the family home in Schwandorf, more than 50 miles away on 30th October.

The grandfather turned to police for help but had difficulties identifying the rest area where it had happened.

A spokesman for the police in Schwandorf told local media: “The child all on its own caught the attention of a truck driver from Eastern Europe.

“However, they struggled to communicate. The lorry driver doesn’t understand any German, so he rang up a relative who speaks German.”

Police officers eventually reunited the unharmed boy with his relieved grandfather.
