GoPro Footage Shows Falling Paragliders Final Moments

This GoPro-style footage has captured the final moments of two tourists on a powered paraglider which spiralled out of control and plunged from the sky.

The fatal accident, which claimed the lives of both men, was recorded by one of the victims using a GoPro-style camera on the end of a selfie stick.

The video shows the two friends flying high above the Mount Exing Scenic Area over the town of Yuhua, which is in Xiangyin County in Central China’s Hunan Province, on 26th June.

Things reportedly took a terrifying twist when one of their parachute cords snapped, and the tandem paramotor can be seen spiralling uncontrollably as the ground spins round and round.

The helpless tourists, one of whom is still clutching the action camera, can do nothing as the ground edges ever closer and they crash-land into the woods at around 7pm local time.

The paragliders plunging to the ground

According to reports, the paramotor fell out of the sky in just 10 seconds, and witness footage shows the craft spinning towards the earth and disappearing under the treeline.

The extreme sports enthusiasts are then seen surrounded by witnesses as they lie lifeless on the ground.

Authorities said the pair were rushed to Hunan’s provincial capital of Changsha for treatment – but they were both declared dead en route.

The men are yet to be named, but officials say they were licensed paragliders who travelled to Hunan for the adventure.

The accident is still being investigated.
