Incredible light show being performed across the night sky with thousands of drones forming the shapes of galloping horses and a majestic dragon during New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Phone video shows the technological spectacle consisting of 1,500 drones that filled the airspace where the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal intersects with the ancient canal in Wuxi, in China’s eastern Jiangsu Province.
The thousands of synchronised drones were first used to portray a short countdown before the actual show began.
Then, giant horse shapes illuminated the dark sky. According to local media, the show aimed to capture the grandeur and spirit of famous Chinese artist Xu Beihong’s mastery, who is best known for creating traditional Chinese ink paintings.
The show was reportedly inspired by Beihong’s renowned masterpiece, “Horses Galloping.”
Thousands of horses galloped and leapt into the millennium canal, transforming into a dragon playing with pearls.
The performance reportedly served as a unique way to usher in New Year blessings for 2024.

Netizens on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok, praised the skill and thoughtfulness put into the project.
User ‘fruit egg’ said: “Precise control of drones seems easy, but in fact, it is not simple at all.”
User ‘Spring is warm and flowers are blooming’ wrote: “This was the scene I dreamed about when I was a kid. I didn’t expect it to come true in modern times.”
And ‘Xi’an women’ commented: “Long live our great motherland.”
