Forest Bloodbath As 10 Killed In Cartel Shootout

These grisly scenes show the piled bloodied bodies and heavy-duty machine guns found in a forested area where a cartel shootout took place.

The bloodbath occurred in the municipality of Uruapan in the western Mexican state of Michoacan and resulted in the death of 10 people while four others were injured, according to local media.

The Prosecutor General’s Office has launched an investigation into the horror shootout just off the Uruapan-Lombardian road after the authorities were alerted at around 2pm.

A multidisciplinary team including local police and experts from the Secretary of National Defence and prosecutor’s office attended the scene to gather evidence.

Reports said that the police were the first to arrive at the scene and broke up the ongoing shootout, with surviving cartel members fleeing into the woods and leaving behind 10 dead and four injured as well as an arsenal of weapons.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where they have also been arrested for their involvement in the gunfight.

According to local media, the authorities found weapons and ammunition used by the Mexican Army which are currently being analysed.

The Mexican Secretariat of Public Security announced that they are patrolling the area with air and land forces.

The night before, three civilians were killed and two cops were injured during a shootout in the municipality of Chilchota.

The investigation is ongoing.
