Cops Seize 18 KiloS Of Gold Bars Worth GBP 1 Million During Random Check

Cops have arrested two people after they found nearly 18 kilogrammes of gold bars worth more than EUR 1.2 million hidden inside their vehicle.

Officers from the Hohenbrunn Traffic Police Station halted the two Bulgarian nationals, aged 35 and 45, on the A99 motorway, in the area of Aschheim, Bavaria State, Germany, on 29th March.

The two men reportedly became suspicious because their Citroen had “a German, but not Bavarian license plate”, according to law enforcement.

Police then briefly checked their vehicle and found a secret hiding spot inside.

Upon examining it, they discovered it contained nearly 18 kilogrammes (40 lbs) of golden bars worth more than EUR 1.2 million (GBP 1 million).

The Bulgarian individuals were then briefly detained, and the gold was seized under the direction of the Munich Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Moreover, legal actions were commenced against the men on suspicion of involvement in money laundering.

The criminal police are now investigating the origin of the gold and whether the two crooks intended to bring it to their homeland.

A police officer told Bild: “It is suspected that the loot from grandchild scam artists and burglars was melted down here.”
